God’s Word is His revelation to us
A revelation is a revealing…to take off the cover…to lighten, to appear.
And God’s Word reveals to us….Himself.
John 1:1-4 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made.
In Him was life; and the life was the light of men.”
The Lord Jesus is that Word…and bears witness through the Word.
The Holy Spirit is in our spirits, if we are born again,…and bears witness with our spirits of His life within (Romans 8:16)
God the Father bears witness through the gathered saints…the corporate ministry of the local church. There is a special power when saints are gathered together in HIs name….and a special revelation of His Presence and Will when they are gathered together. (Matthew 18:18-20)
Our spirits are most like God, and most sensitive to Him.
Proverbs 20:27 “The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, searching all the inward parts of the belly.”
Our souls set us apart from all creation…for when God breathed into Adam the breath of life (His Holy Spirit)….man became a living soul…formed to have communion with God.
We have a mind to think God’s thoughts after Him….to understand the Word shown us.
We have a heart to love Him….and a will to be exercised for His Will and Word.
Our bodies are given as vessels to be of honor to Him.
2 Timothy 2:15-16,21″Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.
But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and meet for the Master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.”
And the Word of God is His revelation to us…revealing…lighting our way…a guide through every work…and the life we are to live here and now.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”
Psalm 119:92-93 “Unless Thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction.
I will never forget Thy precepts: for with them Thou hast quickened me.”
Psalm 119:130 “The entrance of Thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.”
Psalm 36:9 “For with Thee is the fountain of life: in Thy light shall we see light.”
In Thy light shall we see light. It is always as we come to Him, in HIs Word and prayer, that we receive the light for our way.
(And light here means more than sight….it means understanding and grace to do.
Peter says….”..who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light:” 1 Peter 2:9)
1 John 1:7 “But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.”
To be cleansed from our sin, is to know deliverance from it.
Our eyes are open and we see the truth….and we walk in that truth…getting our sins forgiven through Christ Jesus…and grace for the victory over our sin and self.
John 1:17 “For the Law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.”
As we acknowledge the truth through the Word that He speaks to us….the Lord’s grace will be applied to us.
(Think of the amazing power in these two words….truth and grace. Truth…what light it shines in the dark places!
What freedom it gives! We need not hide or hang our head….we know the truth and it brings us into closer communion with Jesus Christ, Who is the Truth.
Psalm 91:4 “He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be Thy shield and buckler.”
Grace is the unmerited favor of power…for by grace are ye saved.
It is the ability to do. God gives us many abilities.
He gives the words to say,…and how to say them. He gives us the strength to do…healing for hurt,…joy in sorrow….and enables us to be content with all the circumstances of our life.)
God needs to reveal to us…everything. The darkness and chaos of the world, can close in on us….unless we stay in the light of His Word to us…revealed by the Holy Spirit.
But He will reveal everything we need to us, as we walk with Him.
John 8:31-32 “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on Him, If ye continue in My Word, then are ye My disciples indeed;
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
(My husband had a conversation with a man once, as they traveled together.
This man, learning that my husband was a preacher….used part of the scripture…”the truth shall make you free”….speaking in a general sense about truth.
He had not used the whole verse….so my husband started reminding him of the rest of the verse….
“If ye continue in My Word…the Bible…the Word of God…the Lord Jesus said…
…if we continue in it…then we are His disciples…under the Lord’s disapline…and then–we shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
The man was not happy….for many will fight for a general idea of “truth”….while at the same time refusing the Lord Jesus and His Word…which is Truth… for me.)
The Lord wants us to know…Him. He is Truth, He is Light, He is Life, He is love.
Ephesians 1:17-18 “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him:
The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of His calling, and what the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,”
The Lord wants us to know….Him, and He has given us His Word and the Holy Spirit to guide us into that knowledge.
The Lord’s revelation…revealing…taking the veil off….is for us personally….through HIs Word that we may know more of Him….for that is what He always wants.
Let us read it,…and He will speak to us through it.
