Preaching, Teaching, and Notes

Remember King David

1 Chronicles 15:13 “For because ye did it not at the first, the Lord our God made a breach upon us,  for that we sought Him not after the due order.”

David had wanted to bring the Ark of God to Jerusalem.   (1 Chronicles 13:3)

(After the Philistines had sent it back,  it had been left in a man’s house…not at Shiloh, where the Tabernacle was.  During the whole reign of Saul it had been left there….showing how little he cared for God.

Are we “hiding” the Lord from the place He should have in our lives?)

But David wanted to move it from there, to the Tabernacle, which he had set up at Jerusalem (1 Chronicles 15:1).    He loved the Lord, and wanted to honor the Ark…to have it in a place of honor,  so he made a plan so all Israel could honor the Ark (1 Chronicles 13:5)…..but…

He had not asked the Lord how to do it….but  had a meeting, instead,  with the captains and leaders….they decided that it had been moved the last time in a new cart (that was the Philistines…sending it back to Israel)….so they chose to do that.

(How many times do we think about doing God’s Will,….by the world’s method or means?)

Wrong way!   God’s way of moving the Ark was by staves through rings on the side…..always on the shoulders of living men from the priesthood. (Numbers 7:9)

Until David did according to God’s Word….and not according to public opinion,  or what others did….his plan for honoring God….was not blessed.

But when he did,  all Israel was blessed by this procession of honor.

1 Chronicles 15:26,28 “And it came to pass, when God helped the Levites that bare the Ark of the covenant of the Lord,…

Thus all Israel brought up the Ark of the covenant of the Lord with shouting, and with sound of cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps.”

The  Ark was finally where it should be…..as it was supposed to be moved….on the shoulders of living men.

(This is a illustration of how Christ is to be carried in this world’s scene…..on the shoulders of living men.    We are to bare Him…with us as He leads.   Wherever that is.)

No matter how important what we are doing is…..No matter how spiritual the act or how grand the end result would be….

….God requires that we seek Him after His due order.

“For that we sought Him not after the due order”…..God always has His due order for our lives….for His purpose…and His means for that purpose.

There is purpose in everything….even the chaos of the times….He is not ruffled or disturbed….but in charge….

…and He gives us HIs way through them…His due order for our life.

And His due order for us, is…to believe and doubt not…and remove those hinderances to His Will in our lives…..or by prayer, the hinderances in the lives of others….

Matthew 21:21-22 “Jesus answered and said unto them,  Verily I say unto you,  If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain,  Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.

And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.”

Believing obedience….this He requires of us.

“If ye love Me, keep my commandments.” (John 14:15).

“And doubt not”.       This is a telling phrase….one which shines a light on our hearts.

If we are born again,  we have faith.

We need to exercise it, when we pray…”for without faith it is impossible to please Him:  for he that cometh to God must believe that He is,…..and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6)

But “doubt” here means to hesitate…..to take a second look at things, as though we were able to figure things out for ourselves….as though God could not handle these things.

Doubt seems so little…..yet it can grow to unbelief.  It can stop us in our tracks.

“But if ye shall say unto this mountain..”.

Our words are important. (Matthew 12:37 “For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.”)

We think we can wish or just want these mountains removed….but we need to “say”….to really talk to God about them.

“If we shall say unto this mountain….Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea;  it shall be done.”

Mountains speak of those things we can not do anything about…..impossible things…that take God’s power to deal with….but by believing obedience,  God can see it done…..this is His due order for blessing.

God is the Amen God.    Amen…so be it!

If what we are asking for is according to His Will, then it rests with the Amen.   He is the Amen,  and whatever He says will be,  will be.
