The Way of the Righteous
Psalm 1:6 “. For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous; but the way of the ungodly will perish.”
What is the way of the righteous?
Proverbs 11:30 “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.”
This is the way of the righteous…and we should all walk in it.
Our lives are witness to the way we believe…..
…..our walk is witness to Who we believe….
…..our words should witness to what we have experienced, in our belief.
Hebrews 4:13 “Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.”
If we would come to God with the full realization that this is true….we would all acquire the faculty of honesty with Him….
…for we would certainly know….He knows us inside and out.
In our souls, God sees all. He knows our thoughts….and our intents.
Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
“Intents” means our moral understanding.
The Word of God divides our soul (reasons, affections, will) and our spirit (where the Holy Spirit dwells).
It shows us what God says…..and shows us where we stand.
It shows us our real thoughts and emotions about things….and shows us our moral compass….the Word of God gives real understanding to all situations as we yield to it.
This matter of our being righteous….and walking in the way of the righteous….is a matter of the heart.
We must know our true thoughts and intents of our heart….we must be honest….and we are helped by His wonderful Word.
It is not so much our failures…..but our attitude….to them. To see them in the light of HIs sacrifice…..to see them in the light of HIs Word….
….if we would see them as they are….and ourselves as we are….we would get a better look at the attitude of our hearts.
Are we diligent? Are we being careless? Are we telling Him all…or just part of all the truth….our side of it?
I believe it takes the power of the Holy Spirit for us to get honest….for we are not able…..of ourselves to get honest with God.
Why? Is not He our greatest Help? Our Savior from sin and failure?
Of course, that is why we need to come to Him and cry:
Psalm 139:23-24 “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
Righteous means “right wise”….”cleansed”.
It is walking in the light of His love and in the way of His commandments to us.
Jude 21 “Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for that mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.”
(I love this verse…..in others words….”Walk on the sunny side of the street….stay out of clouds and darkness….looking and reaching out always for the mercy of God in Christ Jesus….for He will lead us in life—eternally.”)
